A Declaration Of Love To Earth

When did you listen to Earth the last time? Not the Michael Jackson song, I mean really the sound of our planet. The bird singing in the tree across the road, the trees rustling in the wind, the sound of a small river or just sit and listen to the raindrops fall.I believe that we have too many distractions and noises around us. How many times do you switch the computer, the television and the radio off and take the time to have a moment to enjoy the silence?

Recently I decided to have no more car for a while and that I will use the train and busses. What followed was an experience of a lifetime. Yes, I admit I was used to the car and all is fast and easy to do and then suddenly I decided to slow life down and learn to walk again.

So many things came with having no car, You can feel the seasons, in summer it is hot, in winter it is cold, violent storms in autumn and constantly changing weather in spring. I know we all notice these things but do you really feel them?  And I mean not just the two minutes that you need to get to your car. I believe we miss out on alot of life by living so fast. Now what is life you might ask and you might think that going to parties, working or having friends over for a barbecue in the back garden is life. But I don’t mean that life, I mean the real thing. We grow, we breath and we die. Some faster, some slower.

The moment I slowed down and started walking my kids thought me an important lesson. Look with your eyes, listen to the sounds with your ears and touch everything with your hands.

We have an amazing machine in our body that is called brain and when I tell you I touched a stone you all know what it feels like, because at some point in your childhood you touched a stone and the memory of it is stored forever. But when have you touched one the last time? Touched snow withouth gloves? Or sat in a meadow?

Our planet is awesome. I love the Discovery Channel too but sitting in a field and see all the life around you is incredible. All the different bugs and insects alone are unbelievable. And if you are lucky you see a fox or rabbits in the twilight.

The feeling of really feeling smelling, hearing and seeing nature is something invaluable and I can not describe it with the right words. It makes me feel warm and whole and happy. Slow down and walk to the store. At first all you see is the pollution and the dirt and the obstacles. Your legs hurt because you are not used to walking longer distances. If you do it regularly you will see the world again and you will feel and live the world again. You will see the flower that is growing in a crack in the pavement and you will greet it like an old friend and when it is removed by workers because the pavement has to be spotless you will miss it. Sounds crazy right? Not so much after you experienced it. Trust me.

I found this video and it almost makes me cry it is so beautiful. Our planet is beautiful but we forgot how to see, hear and feel it. Take the time to live life and slow down even if it is just for 30 minutes a day.

You are a rare breed in what is called the”Human condition” you have managed to access your ultra senses, and to leave the 5 basic senses which no longer serve us because we have structured and built our lives through attachments, that have taken us further away from the “Natural Order” by which all living things must adhere to!

Bravo! Om Sat Tat

Thank you for reading and for your very interesting comment. I sometimes wonder why not more people ‘get real’. It is the ultimate brain trip. I think you know what I mean. :-D

Awesome post Mirijam. Truly is inspiring, as I try to take some time off from my daily routine … sit back, and thank all the energy that surrounds us and flows through us as we go through our daily lives without showing any recognition to all that it is.

What a touching post. Its been a while since i read something so nicely putted together. It truly touched my soul. I would like to share my (well one of them) point of view…about humans and how we treat the planet..It isn’t very happy but i had this thought. Well…when a species cant adapt – it dies. What if our actions are programmed . Maybe we are simply eliminating ourselves. Earth inst going anywhere, but if we keep on polluting – we will extinct, and who knows if we are the first to do so…
